Kísérteties hely: Vérmező

Vérmező története a halál köré szövődött.
A Krisztinavárosban, a Várhegy nyugati oldalán fekvő Vérmező nem véletlenül kapta sokat nem titkoló nevét. Az 1300-as években egy Logod nevű falunak adott otthont a terület, később katonai övezetként szolgált. A korábban Generális rétnek nevezett mező történetét azonban az 1795 májusában bekövetkezett események tették hírhedtté, 20-án itt végezték ugyanis ki a magyar jakobinus mozgalom vezérét, Martinovics Ignácot és társait, innen kapta későbbi nevét is.
A megrázó esemény napján Martinovicsnak végig kellett néznie társa, Sigrai nyakazását is, minek láttán összeomlott és elájult. A hóhér megvárta, hogy magához térjen, és csak azután cipelték testét a vérpadhoz.

Az egykor vér áztatta területet később parkosították, de a világháborúk és az ’56-os forradalom ezt a helyet sem kímélte, az ide ledobott bombák számos emberéletet követeltek az évek során, és a hatástalannak hitt, megtalált gránátok is több tragédiát okoztak.

A furcsa hangulathoz hozzájárulnak továbbá a világháború után tömegesen itt heverő, szétlőtt repülőroncsokról szóló mesék, az, hogy a terület egy részét a romba dőlt vár törmelékeivel töltötték fel, valamint, hogy itt tartották meg a biatorbágyi vasúti merénylet áldozatainak gyászszertartását is.

Spooky place: Vérmező

The story of Vérmező (Field of Blood) is woven around the death.
Vérmező, located in Krisztinaváros, on the west side of Castle Hill, got its not secretive name for a reason. In the 1300s, this area was the home of a village called Logod, and later it served as a military zone. The story of the field, earlier called General Field, got its evil repute due to the events of May 1795; on the 20th May it was here that the leader of Hungarian Jacobin movement, Ignác Martinovics, and his fellows, were executed; that moment gave the area its later name.
On the day of these shocking events Martinovics had to watch also the beheading of his partner, Sigrai, due to which he collapsed and fainted. The executioner waited until he was conscious again and only then he dragged his body to the execution site.

The blood-soaked area was later turned into a park but the world wars and the Revolution of '56 were harsh to this place; the bombs dropped here killed a number of people over the years and the grenades found here, believed to be ineffective, also caused many tragedies.

Contribution to the strange atmosphere is formed by the tales about the massive amount of shattered aircraft wreckage found here after the world war, the gossip that part of the area was filled up with ruined castle fragments, and that the mourning ritual for the victims of the Biatorbágy train outrage was also held here.

Important: There is no pen in the cache, so bring your own!
