Was out of the area during the summer. Cache is OK but archiving due to lack of logged attempts since 2015. There were no recent cacher logs suggesting anything so wonder how it comes to reviewer attention.

Geocache Description:

A small cache on the woods road trail from Lake Wallace and Foley Field recreation area to George Hannum Road.

The town is working to develop this as a recreation and conservation area.  Waterfowl can frequently be seen in the shallow lake and adjacent wetlands.  I saw a great blue heron near the spillway when I placed this cache.   You can drive to a parking area at the ball fields and picnic tables but the "gate" is occasionally closed.   After crossing a small spillway the trail turns north and follows a multiple use woods road that leads from the lake over a wooded hill and descends to a log landing area on George Hannum Road.   There are mileage markers and several benches along the way, although only a couple of the benches have actually been set completely, a likely testament to the stony glacial till and cobbly outwash that underlies the area.

The old Belchertown State School property is adjacent and posted no trespassing. The local police are vigilant in enforcing this.

Enjoy and leave no trace.
