This cache is being placed as a memorial to Borders Books & Music.
I got the idea for what became a series of caches from my wife's former workplace. She was employed at Borders Books & Music in Bridgewater, NJ, from 2002 through 2006. Borders, of course, was one of the United States' two largest brick and mortar bookstores. However, due to overexpansion, bad management, and the surge of Amazon as a book purveyor and e-book leader, Borders was forced into Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The owners were unable to find a buyer for the company, and all its retail locations closed by September 2011.
In order to honor the memory of the good times both she and I had here, I'm placing a series of caches at each of New Jersey's retail locations.
I thought we'd been to this store at least once, but the first place I pulled into was actually the old store that belonged to its competitor. I actually had to go next door to find it, and lo, there it was! Not only is this store closed, but all others in this area are closed as well. That's the economy for you.
This cache shouldn't require any special tools, just the usual stealth. Put on your suburban camo and find that cache!
