I know many people HATE the snails that have been taking over Minnesota lakes over the past couple of years.  I think the worst part is picking one up and smelling the gross decaying bits. 

I ,however, love snails and have kept them in aquariums for several years now.  My first were the true apple snails pomacea canaliculata which grew to be bigger than golf balls.  Recently, I've been keeping tiger nerite snails.  Knowing what they look like may help you find this cache quicker... good luck!
