Den 12 april 2010 invigdes Uppsalas nya stationshus i det nya resecentrumet. Centralstationen i Uppsala har idag 25 000 resenärer varje dag, vilket är näst mest i landet. Ungefär 70 % av resenärerna är pendlare.
Det nya stationshuset är ritat av Wåhlin Arkitekter och är ett hus med många miljövänliga lösningar. Fasaderna består av glas och stål, där stålet är gjort av återvunnen järnvägsräls. På stationen finns butiker, caféer och reseservice.
Det gamla stationshuset som är det ursprungliga stationshuset har funnits sedan Uppsala fick sin första järnväg år 1866. Den första järnvägslinjen i Uppsala var stambanan till Stockholm.
Framför stationshuset finns Bror Hjorts staty ”Näckens polska”, vilken anses vara hans mest kända verk. På var sin ände av den nya Centralpassagen står två nya skulpturer i brons av Tony Cragg. På västra sidan hamnar den större med titeln "Chain of Events" som är 6,5 meter hög och väger 8 ton. På östra sidan placeras den mindre ”Discussion”, en patinerad bronsskulptur som har en mer horisontell riktning.
On 12 April 2010 inaugurated Uppsala's new station in the new Travel Centre. Central Station in Uppsala today has 25,000 travelers each day, which is the second highest in the country. Approximately 70% of travelers are commuters.
The new station building was designed by the International Office of Architects and is a house with many environmentally friendly solutions. The facades consist of glass and steel, where steel is made from recycled railway tracks. At the station there are shops, cafes and travel service.
The old station building is the original station building has been around since Uppsala got its first railway in 1866. The first railway line in Uppsala was the main line to Stockholm.
In front of the station building is Bror Hjort's statue "Näckens Polska," which is considered his most famous work. At each end of the new Central Passage are two new bronze sculptures by Tony Cragg. On the west side ports the larger titled "Chain of Events" that is 6.5 meters tall and weighs eight tonnes. On the east side is placed the less "Discussion", a patinated bronze sculpture with a more horizontal direction.
