Geocache Description:

Rewind

ENGLISH VERSION:

Rewind
(The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates. Magnetic nano.)

There are surely times when we wish we had a magic key to rewind our lives back to a certain time and place.
Many of the current districts of Madrid were independent towns until as late as 1950’s, when they were annexed by the big city. This is exactly what happened to the old towns of Carabanchel Alto (Upper Carabanchel) and Carabanchel Bajo (Lower Carabanchel).
Apart from supplying Madrid with chickpeas, these two towns were a favourite place for the upper-class families to establish their recreational residences.
The town centre of Carabanchel Bajo was located in the current Plaza de Carabanchel, and there we can see the Church and the former Town Hall (now District Town Hall).
