Geocache Description:

The

The Ten Mile Stone in Ashbourne is not that easy to spot, nestling as it does between the wall of the church and the wall of the Stag’s Head pub where it blends in , as it is always painted the same colour as the wall of the Stag's.

The Ten Milestone measures ten old Irish miles (1 mile = 2048 m) from GPO (General Post Office) building in Dublin.

The milestones were erected when the North Road from Glasnevin to Curragha was built between 1809 and 1820. Tolls were levied to pay for the upkeep of the road and as these tolls were based on the number of miles travelled, milestones were required to mark distances.

As area is very busy so be very carefull and re hide the cache well to prevent Muggles finding it.

Cache is small container with log and pencill inside.

There is few very close places to park your car: church car park, Tesco, Dunnes Store or Super Value car park. All are free of charge. Church gate is closed at 8 or 9 p.m.

Enjoy!
