A drive up to the Picayune Lake Overlook to park, and a walk of just under 2 miles on the PCT will get you here, then the terrain gets trickier. This is not likely to be available in snow, since the last 35' could be a real killer when the ground is slippery, so go get it while the sun is shining.
Out for a hike with the other geocaching members of the family...we stopped just below this location for a great trail lunch in the sun, and one said, "That's a cool spot," another one of us said, "We should hide a cache," and a third one said, "We don't have a container." When the quiet one of the crew, along for the hike, but not really for the caches, dug around in his pack and found a perfect container, the cache building party was on! We scrounged a few tiny trail-type cache goods, a few carefully created FTF prizes, and attached a TB that wants desperately to be in snow country, then headed for the cool spot to tuck a cache in for the next adventurers. We are a family completely infested with people who absolutely must stand on the highest ground around, so you will not be surprised at the location of this little waterproof first aid kit box with no room for a writing stick. Be careful on the rocks, make sure you are equipped for the trip, and enjoy the amazing views of the mountains and the lakes on the journey. After all, every cache should be an adventure!
