Rochester Pier fell into disrepair a few years ago, but Medway Council rebuilt it, in order for the paddle steamer 'Kingswear Castle' to take passengers on board. Hence the length of the floating pontoon, but access this part of the pier is restricted.
The first part of the Pier is a mixture of original and new, and it is this part that conceals the cache. signs stating that the gate closes at night time are correct. Please be aware that this cache is unavailable between sunset and 7am.
As a boy i would regularly fish for eels etc. from the old part of the pier, many a cold night spent sleeping on the pontoon, catching eels for my grandmother to 'jelly'.
The cache is a magnetic 35mm film case, placed out of reach of muggles. therefor, this isn't going to be straightforward. How you reach this is up to you but please stay safe. There is no need to go in or near the water, as the flow of water here is lethal.
The views of the river and Rochester Castle speak for themselves here, why not take some time to enjoy some of what Rochester has to offer.
Please bring your own pen. This cache is out of reach, therefor teamwork or equipment or tools are required to retrieve and replace this one. This cache is rated as difficult for a reason.
