Geocache is an ammo can in front of the South Nation Conservation (SNC) office, with the support and awareness of the Authority. This is an improved geocache from the geocache that was here previously. Thanks to BLORT for creating and providing the beautiful marker for this geocache.
SNC is one of 36 conservation authorities in Ontario. SNC focuses on a variety of conservation practices within the South Nation watershed. see map: (SNC Watershed)
SNC is an environmental organization that has granted permission for the existence of this geocache.
Species at risk biologists at SNC are conducting a rare turtle study within the South Nation watershed, maintaining information on 6 species of turtle (snapping turtle is included, but painted turtle is not). If you see a turtle in your travels that might be at risk, you are encouraged to snap a picture of it (and GPS coordinates if possible) and to contact the SAR biologists at SNC.
More information regarding the turtle study can be found at: (English Poster) (French Poster)
SNC has worked with the Geocachers of Eastern Ontario to deliver SNCITO, SNCITO2, SNCITO3, and soon to be SNCITO4, and additionally have produced a series of geocoins in gold and silver for 2010, 2011, and 2012.
Congratulations to Twisted Cricket for being the First to Find this geocache!
