Geocache Description:

Prepare to enter a world where hobbits and trolls may tread!
C/w log, pencil and trade items. Small tab lock box.

Aghadowey became famous for its high quality linen produced here from the late 1700s. Flax was grown and processed locally. "Scitching" is where the rotted flax is beaten with wooden blades to remove the dry, hard parts of the plant. Hunter's Mill used power from the Agivey river to carry out this process, usually in the autumn. It is well preserved now and serves as a focus for local trout / slamon anglers who enjoy the peace and tranquility that a day on the river brings.
The water can be deep and fast-flowing. When in the car park, DO NOT go round the river side of the mill.
