Geocache Description:

Mikagebashi Bridge and Gengoemon Watershed

Mikage Bridge is an old bridge that has endured from the Edo period. At that time, it was called "Yon No Bridge" because it was the fourth bridge to cross Tamagawa Josui counting from its source upstream in Hamura. It was also sometimes referred to as "Danna Bridge" because it was close to the residence of the village leader. The bridge became known as "Mikagebashi" in the Taisho era. Since then people continue to call the bridge Mikagebashi however the Chinese character used to write the first syllable of the name has changed over time.

Until the bridge was built in the beginning of the Meiji Era there was a water intake located at the sight which took, the name of the local lord "Gengoemon". Even today you can still see evidence of this intake on the lower southwest side of the bridge.

There is no pen in the cache.
