This stone monument is dedicated for a woman "Kiyo" (in Edo era). She devotedly took care of people when the plague had raged. She saved many people but she herself was gone. For her devotion, people built a shrine and thanked her. In WWII, the shrine was burned out. In 1979, this stone monument was placed. This town's name "Kiyo-machi" comes from her name.

喜与の石碑のそばにマイクロキャッシュをおきました。
この石碑は江戸時代に生きた喜与という女性について書かれています。彼女は疫病のときに人々を献身的に介護して多くの人を救いましたが、最後には彼女自身が疫病によって亡くなってしまったそうです。喜与さんを祭りこの地に祠がたてられていたそうです。第二次大戦のときに祠は被災して消失しています。昭和54年に喜与さんの功績を後世に伝えるべくこの地に石碑を建立したとのことです。このあたりが喜与町というのは喜与さんの名前に由来しているのですね。
