Au XIXème siècle, le parc floral des Thermes constituait alors le jardin du château, parcouru par les eaux chaudes des sources thermales. Mis à disposition pour les curistes par le marquis d’Aix, il était considéré comme la plus belle promenade de la ville.
C´est pour éviter l´urbanisation de ce jardin, proche de l´établissement thermal, et pour répondre au besoin d´un parc public, que fut décidée, en 1865, la création du parc floral des Thermes.
L´Etat acheta l´ensemble de la propriété en 1866 et rétrocéda le château et ses dépendances à la commune. Il fut précisé que le clos du marquis d´Aix devait être maintenu à perpétuité à l´état de parc ou promenade publique.
Le parc floral des Thermes fut ouvert au public en 1869 avec des aménagements nouveaux : un réservoir pour l´arrosage du parc en 1869, une serre de production, dite serre hollandaise, construite par l´entreprise Bonna à l´angle sud ouest en 1875, un chalet d´aisances la même année, un nouveau portail au nord en 1897, des tennis au sud en 1903 et 1913, et un kiosque à musique en 1920.
En 1933, suite à l´agrandissement de l´établissement thermal, le parc fut entièrement remanié par le célèbre architecte paysagiste parisien, Bouhana, reconnu pour ses travaux au Parc des Princes et à Roland Garros. Les arbres existants furent conservés.
La construction de la pergola et du bassin central fut confiée à l´entreprise Boschetto.
La Ville s´engagea dans la construction de deux kiosques-buvettes reliés par un promenoir, quatre kiosques à fleurs, un kiosque pour les autocars et un café-bar (la Rotonde). L´ensemble fut réalisé par l´architecte des nouveaux thermes, Roger Pétriaux. Des espaces de jeux pour les enfants et un nouveau mobilier urbain vinrent compléter l´ensemble.
Le théâtre de verdure fut crée entre 1953 et 1954 en complément du promenoir des sources qui n’avait plus qu’une utilité de scène pour les spectacles de plein air.
En 2005, le bassin central fut supprimé pour faire place à la fontaine marocaine, réalisée par des artisans marocains dans le style et avec des matériaux de leur pays, en mémoire des accords sur l´indépendance du Maroc, négociés à Aix-les-Bains en 1956. Promenez-vous dans le parc avant de chercher cette cahce, observez les plate-bandes de fleurs et les scupltures dans les troncs, cela vaut le coup.

In the nineteenth century, the Parc Floral des Thermes (Spa’s flower garden) was then the Castle’s garden. Made available for spa guests by the Marquis d'Aix, he was considered the most beautiful promenade in the city..
The state bought the entire property in 1866 and gave the castle and its outbuildings in the commune. It was clarified that the Park should be maintained forever a park or public promenade, to avoid urbanization of it.
The Park was opened in 1869 with new facilities: a reservoir to irrigate the park in 1869, greenhouse production, known as Dutch greenhouse, built by the company Bonna at the southwest corner in 1875, public toilets in the same year, a new portal to the north in 1897, tennis courts in 1903 and 1913, and a bandstand in 1920.
In 1933, following the expansion of the City’s Spa Resort, the park was completely redesigned by the famous Parisian landscape architect, Bouhana, known for his work at the Parc des Princes and Roland Garros. Existing trees were preserved.
The construction of the pergola and the central basin was entrusted to the Boschetto.
The City built two refreshment stalls connected by a promenade, four booths with flowers, a station for coaches and a cafe-bar (the Rotunda). The complex was designed by the architect of the new Spa Resort, Roger Pétriaux. Playgrounds for children and new street furniture came to complete the set.
The Théâtre de verdure (garden theater) was created between 1953 and 1954.
In 2005, the central pond was removed to make room for the Moroccan fountain, madeby Moroccan craftsmen with materials of their country, in memory of agreements on the independence of Morocco, negotiated in Aix-les-Bains in 1956.
