Geocache Description:

Riley's Ramble - Run Rabbit Run is #3 in a mini series of Riley Rambles which are walks frequented on afternoons when we just feel like stretching our legs.

This cache site is in the Liverpool suburb of Huyton has entrances on Whitefield Lane and Coney Lane. Both entrances to a wooded area are kissing gates and are linked by a public footpath running through the wood. The flat, grassy rides within the wood allow people of all levels of fitness to wander freely although dogs should be controlled near the northern boundary where it backs onto the M62 motorway.

It is a destination for dog walkers• Wild flowers• Pleasant grass and woodland mix. A Woodland Trust's Woods site is occupied by new native woodland with the remainder being refreshing, wide open rides for recreation and walking. The wide paths are popular with dog owners from the local community while the public footpath that runs through the wood forms a pleasantthoroughfare for walkers. Residents of this urban corner of Merseyside can now enjoy trees ranging from oak and ash to hazel and hawthorn as well as the wildflower nursery.

It is a pleasant walk but near the M62, and care must be taken at all times. Parking is minimal at both ends of the woodland walk (Coney Lane being easier to find some parking, DO NOT restrict access to amenities, farms and houses)...HOWEVER this cache may be accessed without entering the woodland. There can be a a lot of muggles about regardless of the time of day. Although this road/ footpath is not open to traffic, some farm vehicles or United Utilities vehicles could be around so care must be taken with dogs and small children.

Keep on the road and if you enter the Woodland Trust Walk (marked a public footpath) and you will be pleasantly surprised at this wildflower and wildlife walk right in the heart of a busy local community.

It is okay for prams etc, but if going on Riley Ramble cache #4 then it could be tough going.

The woodland walk can be a bit muddy after rain, especially on some of the side paths. Good footwear is recommended,

The cache is a micro cache -magnetic key case with just a log in it. Bring your own pen.
