J.O.E. I 95 ~ Exit # 150 Somerset Av Pittsfield Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

MainePublisher: All geocache placements must have a responsive owner. The cache owner must be able to respond to issues that come up and to submit an "owner maintenance" log to remove the "needs maintenance" icon.

In addition to the "needs maintenance" logs and DNF logs, Goundspeak also uses a Health Score algorithm. https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=713

In this case, Groundspeak has sent an email to the cache owner with no response. The cache owner did not respond to any of the cachers hoping to find the cache and did not respond to the reviewer note so the cache is now archived.

The cache location is now open for any Geocacher to place a new cache, including the original cache owner.

Geocache Description:

J.O.E. caches are an easy way to pick up more finds while travelling and a nice fast Smiley for those that already live here.

When planning a trip to visit relatives in New Jersey, I found a series of caches in Connecticut that are near exits. Caches that are intended to help travelling cachers break up the monotony of highway driving with some quick finds. Several were the usual P and G’s; however there were others that were surprisingly large enough to hold trades. I came across another series in New York called J.O.E. I found it quite nice to have caches near exits for a quick off and on.

The JOE cache series was started by altosaxplayer, a member of the Tri-Cities Geocachers. The name JOE means "Just Off the Exit". The series was started as an Interstate 81 equivalent to the "Loop to Loop" cache series that was started in Memphis, TN by cgeek. The JOE caches are placed no more than two tenths of a mile from the exit and the hint is a dead give away to the cache location.
