Geocache Description:

From I40, take exit 303. Cache and log reviewed 8/25/2020.

Adamana Arizona was named after Adam Hanna, a sheep rancher. The town was once a stop on the Santa Fe Railroad and known as the Gateway to the Petrified Forest.  Tourists stayed in a local hotel and took the Fred Harvey car tour to the Forest.  After the hotel burned, Adamana became a ghost town.  In 1903 prehistoric pictographs were found in the area.  Companies drilled for oil around Adamana in the early 1900s.  This building was on the old Route 66.  Some of the world's most beautiful petrified wood is found in this area.
