A quick cache at the new boat launch near the old tannery, please be stealthy if the area is busy! Congrats to Newbie74 on the FTF!
The former Howland Tannery has been used for several types of manufacturing operations since the 1880's. This has included brick making as well as paper and plywood manufacturing. This site has been sitting idle since 1971 and the town has recently (4/2012) begun demolition of the buildings.
There is a newly constructed boat launch here and the parking area is along a walking trail. We placed this cache for those who are stopping here to enjoy the new access as well as those just "caching" through. The container is a smaller lock n lock that has been painted. Please post pictures of the area as this site undergoes changes in the near future!
