MLT - Lyon Manor: The Sequel Traditional Cache

 Town Name: Lyon Manor

Population: Varies between the seasons.

Reason For Becoming a Lost Town: The Great Depression killed tourism for Higgins Lake and Roscommon took over almost all of the mailing duties when tourism picked back up.

Town History: Named after a three-story house bought by Charles Lyon (whom the township is named). Post office lasted from 1910 to 1960. He later took his property and subdivided them and sold them off. Tourism became the main business for Lyon Manor after the lumbering business faded. The Great Depression killed tourism and didn't pick back up until after World War II. By that time Roscommon took over the area for picking up mail and Lyon Manor became a PO Box only (instead of delivering them). In 1960 the P.O. name was changed to Higgins Lake and Lyon Manor lost its identity as a town, even though the population for Higgins Lake  grew rapidly. As for the Lyon Manor building itself, it was torn down years ago and a new summer home built in its place. The lost town of Lyon Manor and the Manor itself was near the location of the Higgins Lake Post Office.

Cache Description: A big black magnetic key holder.  There is no pencil inside, so bring your own.
