Going to Reseda Park as a kid was always a treat . It meant playing on the "GIANT ROBOT". It's arms were slides. not just any slides but the fastest steepest slides ever...EVER!!! And it was so tall you amost needed an oxygen mask to breathe . That is if you were brave enough to climb ALL the way to the top. And I was! Unfortunately some bureaucrat , (Lets just call him Mr. Fun Sucker), deemed it to be to dangerous and had it removed. Reseda Park was never the same. Sad times..... Then in the 90's I moved to valencia with my young family and happily discovered that the GIANT ROBOT LIVES!
There it stood .Just as grand as I remembered. Although I think SantaClarita bought the cheaper smaller version because as a kid I remember Reseda Parks "GIANT ROBOT" was about 5 times bigger! Just sayin'.
My kids were lucky enough to have played on it before the latest incarnation of the Fun Sucker closed this one down too.
It now stands welded closed and fenced up but still standing ever watchful over a new generation of park goers who will never know the joy of playing on the GIANT ROBOT. At least we have great memories.
This GIANT ROBOT used to have a small hide and was a geocache staple for many years. A valiant effort to keep a cache hidden there was waged by"The Icicle Kid "but alas the muggles won., So a new cache has been placed not far from the robot but in a safer spot. Hopefully , like the GIANT ROBOT, it will be around for a long long time.
UPDATE: 9-14-12 Found to have been taken . Smaller less elaborate cache was put in its place . Lets see how long this one lasts!?
