Geocache Description:

A small cylindrical pill box hidden near my Mothers bowls club.
The cache is on public land and away from the railway.

The bowls section was formed in 1915 when it was a railway club owned by LNER, later becoming Great Northern Athletic Association then British Rail Sports Association

1940 –1945, the main pavilion was used as war offices and the war office did not move out until 1948, but casual play continued during this time.

In 1994, when British Rail withdrew its financial support, it was renamed Holtwhites as our entrance was on Holtwhites Hill.   We now have one of the best greens in Middlesex and are often asked to host matches and competitions for both the women’s and men’s County Associations.

Well done Alex for FTF . This has been renamed trackside as opposed to sidetracked because it is not a quick dash and cache from the station. Thanks Tyke for the observation.
