Geocache Description:

This is a tribute cache to celebrate Budwind's first 1000 finds.  It is placed in Verona State Park. . . across Route 13 from the main park, so no parking fee is required.

I first met Bud on a race for FTF in Rome Sand Plains.  We were unsuccessful.  The next time I met him was at Sherman's Gulch after Hubbye and I had just replaced the container.  Since then, Budwind seems to have made a point of grabbing as many FTF's as possible, undeterred by rain, miles, night fall, or even coords that have been upwards of a mile off!  I believe Wardrums has dubbed him the caching ninja.  Over the past year or so, I have met up with Bud on many FTF hunts. . . some planned, and some not planned.  He is an avid fisherman and hiker as well as geocacher, happy to offer advice on the best route to take, or how to find any given cache, but be careful. . . if you go after him, he always leaves a cache hidden better than he found it!

This cache is in a park that BG_YO told me about.  In fact, they came along on the hike with me, today.  If you go in from Hunter's Pagoda, and turn to the right after you cross over the culvert, it is just about 1 mile to the cache.  Please stay on the trail till the last 60' because it was easy to get the permit today, but if the park determines that people are going off trail, it may be harder to get permits in the future.  The trail to the left is slightly shorter at .92, but the trail is sandy, making it harder to walk on, and it is less shady on this stretch of the trail, as well.

I started the cache with 4 geocoins and tb's.  It would be nice if at least one tb or coin could stay in the cache at all times to encourage cachers to come visit it, but it's not a rule.

Here's wishing Budwind many more happy geocaching adventures!
