Geocache Description:

eventScott County Veterans Trail Mix Event Attendees

vetsVeteran and Civil Servant Recognition Ceremony

Please join us for the Fall 2012 Scott County Veterans Trail Mix. We had to relocate this cache from a nearby WMA due to hunting and geocaching conflictions. There will be plenty of fun for those of you cachers who like to hunt caches in the wilderness. There is a paved road that runs over 1/2 mile to the trailheads. There are several mountain bike trails out here. Bicycles are welcome, but no motorized vehicles are allowed. Dogs are welcome, but please have them leashed as there are plenty of deer in this area and bicyclists are out on the trails.

There will be a drawing for some giveaways, as well as a few breakfast items. We will have water, but please bring your own beverages, as well as lunch if you are planning on spending the day on the trails.

We look forward to seeing you at the event! Just wanted to add some info about the event. I have changed the terrain rating to reflect the most difficult cache. Do not worry - this only affects a few caches. The biggest majority of the caches are 1.5 to 2 in terrain. This is geared toward a family event and the caches are too. As for directions - most of you will probably have a Nuvi to guide you, but just in case you don't, here they are: 1. Coming from N or S on I-75, get off at Exit 126. 2. Go toward center of town and take 2nd light turn to go to Route 32 Longlick Pike. 3. Take Route 32 until you get to Skinnersburg Road and turn right. Follow the road until you get to Burton Pike. 4. Turn left on Burton Pike and arrive at parking coords in about 1 mile. Coming from I-64 get off at 2nd Frankfort exit. 1. Turn left on Versailles Road and follow until you get to 460. 2. Turn right on 460 and continue for about 4 miles. 3. Turn left on Woodlake Road and follow until you reach Stamping Ground. 4. At the stop sign at the end of Woodlake Road in Stamping Ground turn left. Then about 1/4 mile turn right onto Locust Fork Road at corner before drug store with large stone wall. 5. Drive for approximately 4 miles on Locust Fork Road until you come to a stop sign. It will intersect with Route 32 and Long Lick Pike. 6. Turn right and follow for about 3 miles. 7. Turn left onto Skinnersburg Road. Follow until reaching Burton Pike and turn left to arrive at parking coordinates near the church. There is plenty of parking. The caches will start showing as live on Sept. 19-21. There is a paved road at the parking that runs for about 1-1/2 miles to the east that has about 17 caches on it. Walking or riding a bike is allowed. On the south side of that road are mountain bike trails and about 20-25 caches. North side of that trail are horse trails and about 20-25 caches there. At the end of the road is where the horse trailers park and there is plenty of parking available here for hiking across the road where another 20 caches are located a little farther out, thus the terrain rating is a bit higher here. Most of the trails are hard packed and a lot of tree coverage in case we do get some rain. Hope to see everyone there. You might want to give yourself some extra time because there are quite a few caches on the roads leading into this place.
