A unique piece of local history, the Michigan Northern Power Co. came into being in 1913 to take control of the failing Michigan Lake Superior Power Co. Eventually the company would be bought out by the Edison Sault Electric Co. in the mid 1930's. This is one of the survey marker from the MNP Co placed in 1913. Another one is on the opposite side of the street from where you are now standing. These markers established the boundry between the MNP Co and the Methodist Indian Reservation.
