Geocache Description:

MEDWAY MASSIVE MULTICACHE!

This Multi-cache has been developed to celebrate alot of the fine monuments, fantastic views and unseen things we take for granted during our daily lives. The published co-ordinates are for the front of the Medway Council Offices on Dock Road,Chatham.

20 Questions - 20 Locations - 5 Main Towns.
This multi will take place within the conurbation of five towns, which from West to East are:

Strood - Strood was part of Frindsbury until 1193, but now Frindsbury is considered part of Strood. It's history has been dominated by the river, the bridges along with the road and rail links they carried. It is now mainly a residential suburb of Rochester, and a commuter town for London.
Rochester - Rochester is a well known town and former City in Kent. It's location is the lowest bridging point of the river Medway at about 30 miles from London. It is well known for it's Cathedral, Castle, Royal Connections, Dickens along with an epic siege in 1215.
Chatham - Although the Dockyard has long been closed it has now been redeveloped into a business and residential community. The town has Military connections; several Army Barracks were located here together with 19th Century fortifications which provided a defensive shield for the Dockyard.
Gillingham - This means homestead of Gylla's family, from the Old English ham (village, homestead) & ingas (family, followers) and was first recorded as Gyllingeham in the 10th Century.
Rainham - Historically, Rainham was a separate village until, in 1928, it was added to the municipal borough of Gillingham, which had itself been created in 1903.

The Multi will take you to each area where you will find the answers to four questions regarding sections of each of the towns. Some maybe Park ‘n’ Grabs, others will be wander around to seek out the clues. All answers can be found out of normal office hours, however the cache has been secured within the confines of a free to enter establishment that is closed from dusk til dawn, which I hope will help to preserve this Geocache and mean it becomes a long standing element in Medway’s history; Too those involved I am very grateful for their contribution to this Multi-Cache.

(Please don't ask for help from any staff as they only know it's present, not it's whereabouts) Either view the contents of the Cache in the open or on inclement days feel free to use the information room/cafe seating area to keep it all dry. Please use "needs maintenance" button if the containers damaged, several Cachers maintain this and on posting a note either the Cache Owner or another will rectify. Photographs are encouraged of views, the route and with the Cache.
