Geocache Description:

A nano (bring your own pencil) from the Church Micro series

Congratulations to Landy Steve - FTF logged in 93 minutes!

After the first cache was muggled, I've changed container, coordinates, hide and hint.

Cam is a large village tucked in under the edge of the Cotswolds, closely neighbouring the (smaller) town of Dursley.  The village originally grew up around the woollen trade, but has expanded rapidly over the last fifty years with many residents commuting to work in Bristol, Gloucester and Cheltenham.

Methodism is a Christian movement which sprung up around John Wesley within (and subsequently away from) the Anglican Church in the 1730s.  Although the first half of its life was marked by a series of splits (explaining why this chapel bears the legend “Wesleyan”), the last hundred years or so have seen a series of reunifications with Methodism becoming essentially a single denomination by 1932. Methodist worship is found at the less formal end of the spectrum and is famous for its congregational hymn singing (many well-known hymns, including those of Charles Wesley, started off in Methodist hymn books).

Methodism seems to have reached Cam in 1799 when Adam Clarke and William Jenkins came up from Bristol to preach.  The society met for a while in an attic near the Berkeley Arms before opening the current Cotswold stone building in 1825

You are looking for a nano container, which you should be able to find without going through any gates or moving any obstructions.

The cache is placed with the permission of the trustees of Cam Methodist Church (www.cammethodists.org.uk).

If you find the cache between 10 and 11 on a weekday, or between 9 and 10 on a Saturday, the church will probably be open.  You will be welcome to come in for a cup of tea and a look around.

Afterwards, if you set off in the direction of Gallows Bridge (GC201RK), you will pass the last working woollen mill in Cam – a leading supplier of felt for tennis balls and billiard tables around the world.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
