The house is now occupied. After maintenance checks the cache has been replaced several times. It's not meant to be any more. Time for it to go.

Geocache Description:

Mahoney's House - The Avenue of Honour

This brick rendered house with brown stone corners was built by James Mahoney in 1848 as his family home. James was an Irish immigrant who was a trained stonemason and brick layer. The property originally belonged to Captain Alexander McCrae, an ex army officer who obtained title as a land warrant issued for 20 years service with the New South Wales government. James Mahoney obtained the land from Captain G. Ward Cole as part payment for Mahoney's work during 1843 building Coles Wharf, now Queen's Wharf. In Bacchus Marsh James Mahoney became a farmer. The property passed to his son Cornelius when James died on 15 Jan 1887 aged 92 years. In 1914 his wife Mary inherited the property. When she died in 1916, daughter Jane became the owner. In 1925 Jane left the property to her nephew Conelius James McFarlane, who left it to his daughters, Jean and Bonny, who still own the property. In addition to its age it is also notable thet the house has remained in the same family since being built. The cache is a magnetic mint tin......
