Geocache Description:

Camo 35mm in ivy(not green!)on the rail side of path. There is a car park on the road a short walk away but after working hours it is possible to park one or two cars at the start of the path

The Teingrace branch line has a chequered history opening in 1866 as a broad gauge following the route of the granite railway from Haytor.Slow to be used until the end of the century it was then converted to standard gauge. Goods traffic included ball clay It was closed during WW2 and although reopened it was never again busy and closed in 1959 to passengers and to freight in 1967. It was a convenient place to park the Royal train on official visits and in 1983 the Prince and Princess of Wales spent a night in the train “just south of Teigngrace. The Prince left next morning from Teigngrace and the Princess from Heathfield to attend separate engagements” The GPS reception is not too good because of the trees but if you are walking from the north you will see the track. Also there is a prominent leaning tree on the other side of the path/cycle track.
