Ramsøy is a small island on the west side of Askøy, with about 220 residents. There was boat connection between Hanøy and Ramsøy until the end of the 1980’s. At that time a road was built til Ramsøy with the help av bridge and molos.
In principle, the roads on the island are forbidden except for residents, but there is a marked parking lot as you arrive on the island. From there, it is not a long walk to the fort.
During the spring of 1942, the Germans came to Ramsøy, 180 men in the beginning. “Now there was life and activity with horses and cars, work and construction, with drilling and blasting, such that the otherwise peaceful and quiet island had never seen, either before of after.
By the beginning of 1943 the coast artillery battery on Ramsøy was operational. It included the commando headquarters and four canons with a range of 14,000 meters. The installation was further built out with the help of Russian prisoners of war, who came in the summer of 1943. They, about 80 men, were lodged in the school house which was surrounded by barbed wire fences. As with other places on Askøy, the residents did what they could for the Russians by helping them with food and clothing.
The Germans remained on Ramsøy through the rest of the occupation time. For the most part they behaved properly with regard to the residents and the fort commander “was a good man who behaved fairly toward the civilians on the island.” In the days after the capitulation May 8th, 1945, the Germans destroyed their weapons and burned most of their equipment.
The coordinates will lead you to the entrance to the fort.(Picture) Once you enter the fort you will have to find the cache without coordinates since the signals from the satellites will not be present. The iron is strong, meaning nothing broke when I used it.
There is a second entrance to the fort, but you will have to find that on your own.
You will be happier if you take a light source with you.
Hints: Too long for manual decoding.
Top floor, to the left and below the electric box, under a large rock, behind a couple of small stones.
