Petite promenade à La Fouly, en toute saison, seul, entre amis ou en famille.
Comptez moins de 2km du parking à la cache.
Profitez en pour faire une boucle avec l'une des différentes promenades balisées. N'hésitez pas à agrémenter vos logs de photos, mais ne dévoilez pas les étapes. Remettez bien tout en place.

Count less than 2km from the parking lot to the cache.
Take this opportunity to make a loop with one of the several waymarked walks. Feel free to add some pictures to your logs but do not reveal the steps. Please, put everything back in place.

Situé dans les Alpes, dans le triangle entre la Suisse, la France et l’Italie, le val Ferret est une vallée latérale du massif du Mont-Blanc, au sud d'Orsières. Elle se termine par le grand col Ferret, qui permet le passage vers l'Italie dans la vallée du même nom.
Le val Ferret est un district franc fédéral pour la protection des espèces menacées. Il y est donc interdit d'y chasser. C'est également une vallée qui a vu le retour du loup en Suisse.
A 1600 mètres, aux pieds du mont Dolent (3820 mètres) et du Tour Noir (3826 mètres), se trouve La fouly, dernier village dans le Val Ferret qui est habité toute l’année.
La Fouly était un mayen de la commune d'Orsières. Comme tout pâturage de moyenne altitude, il était une étape de la transhumance estivale vers les alpages du val Ferret. Des chalets en pierre y furent construits pour le séjour des bergers et le foin était entreposé dans des granges. Aujourd'hui, une seule étable est encore utilisée pour le bétail.
L'essor de la Fouly comme station touristique commença en 1925 avec la construction du Grand Hôtel. Les chalets individuels étaient peu nombreux jusqu'en 1960.
Le nom de La Fouly viendrait du latin Folium c'est à dire un endroit où les feuillus sont ou ont été importants.


Located in the Alps, in the triangle between Switzerland, France and Italy, the Val Ferret is a side valley of the Mont-Blanc, south of Orsières. It ends with the Grand Col Ferret, which allows the passage to Italy in the valley of the same name. Val Ferret is a franc federal district for the protection of threatened species. Hunt is therefore prohibited. It is also in this valley that the wolf did his comeback in Switzerland. At 1600 meters high, at the foot of Mount Dolent (3820 meters) and the Tour Noir (3826 meters), there is Le Fouly, the last village in Le Val Ferret which is inhabited all year long. Fouly was a ‘mayen’ of Orsières. Like any average altitude pasture, it was a step towards the summer transhumance fields of Le Val Ferret. Stone cottages were built for the stay of the shepherds and the hay was stored in barns. Today, only one barn is still used for livestock. The rise of Le Fouly as resort began in 1925 with the construction of the Grand Hotel. The chalets were few until 1960. The name La Fouly comes from the Latin Folium ( ie a place where hardwoods are or have been important).
