Anyone who has hiked up the Teneriffe logging roads knows this spot well; it's where there is finally some level after seemingly endless up that appeared (and was?) steeper at every turn. We have always called it the flats.
Not only do you get a respite from the burn but the road improves, it's in the shade and it's even downhill for a while towards the summit. Of course when coming back this way you have to regain that elevation and this is then the beginning of a brutal toe-jamming knee-stressing seemingly endless down.
The cache is a small lock-n-lock in just off the side of the road at a somewhat typical NW hiding spot.
