Once you pull in off the road you can see a swampy pond. There has been beaver activity in the past, but perhaps not recently. I saw a great blue heron and heard some of the usual swamp wildlife when I was here. Hidden in the grass, weeds and underbrush nearby are the remains of old foundations, paved areas and fencing -- looking like the remnants of farm land.
This land is part of the Satan's Kingdom Wildlife Management Area, accessible from Huckle Hill Road in Bernardston, Mass., not far from the Vernon, Vermont border.
You will be looking for a small metal container, hidden in a potentially winter unfriendly location.
