The cache is a 20cm 'Wilbur's Breakfast Cocoa' tin, with pen, logbook and some small trades.
You are at the site of St Mary's Catholic Church, Marmal. Only the gateposts, sugar gum trees and a few stumps remain. The church was built by Richard Windsor of Glenloth in 1888 on land given by Michael Rogan. The church served families including the McGraths, Byrnes, Delmenicos, Bertolis, Balsarinis, O'Callaghans, Rogans, O'Mearas, Caspanis and Fradds. St Marys was closed in 1968. Several local families were of Italian heritage and some had vineyards, olive groves and citrus orchards. A century later much of the district has been turned over to large-scale horticulture, mainly olives and wine grapes.
