These tracks were part of the McCloud River Rail Road principal line that ran from Mt Shasta to Bartle.The rail road was chartered in 1897 and began operation in 1901 hauling frieght and passenger.The rail road applied to abandon most of its tracks in 2005.A small section of line between Mt Shasta and McCloud remained open for a short time for
excurision and dinner train service.
