This cache is a black coffee tin with log, pen and some little swaps. Be careful of the old fencing wire in the vicinity Watch out for nude muggles!
Local wags erected the sign soon after Lake Minmindie was created by the monumental flood of January 2011. Although certainly a lake in times past, it has been cut off from normal flood paths and old-timers could only recall it holding about 18" of water in the wet year of 1956. This time around the level reached 4 metres and the farm established on its bed was submerged. The lake was a paradise for water birds in 2011 and 2012. You will be standing on a lunette to the east of the lake, formed during a very dry period when particles of clay were carried from the dry lake bed by the prevailing westerlies. You can see further examples of this throughout the Boort and Kerang wetlands. The 'Dry Weather Only' sign on the road which crossed the lake bed gained additional meaning! By March 2013 Lake Minmindie disappeared once more and by August was sporting glorious crops of canola and wheat.
