This is a traditional (walk up and find it) kind of hide, with a bit of a twist. You're looking for a MHK holder with nothing more than a log to sign. BYOP and please return it EXACTLY as hidden.
Here's the twist... have you ever driven toward a cache and as you turned the corner, you see a HUGE TANK sitting there? In the back of your brain a little voice says "crud, do I really want to do this???" You know that somewhere on that metal "haystack" is a needle. Some CO's are kind with these hides, putting them in a very easy spot (thank you very much) - but even then, some cachers want to make it "more of a challenge for the next poor sap" and put it back in a much more "clever spot."
So, here's the deal with this one... there are at least 8 different MHK's on this tank (I say "at least 8" because people often report finding some old containers on this particular tank (AND THOSE OLD RELICS STILL COUNT for the GeoTank Hidey Game). Each container has a different color. Because of the different colors, some are easier to find than others.
You may claim the "find" by locating ANY ONE of the MHKs and signing the log. If that's all you want to do, you're off and running - cache-on!
However, here's the twist. Each colored MHK has a different "point value" - find more than one, and you can use theh following color list to calculate your total score:
- White - 1,003 points
- Yellow - 3,005 points
- Orange - 5,009 points
- Red - 9,011 points
- Green (bright) - 11,017 points
- Blue - 17,023 points
- Black - 23,027 points
- Camo - 27,099 points
Find as many as you care to, but you must sign each log to add in those points (and report your point total in your log). Bragging rights go to those with the highest point total reported (no wagering please).
This cache has been placed with the permission of the Frank W. Sidler post 40 of the American Legion, in Danville, PA. I thank them for their permission and for their individual and collective service to our country.
There are often many muggles in the general vicinity, so some stealth will be required. However, this is a spot for tourists to stop - so you will probably go unnoticed. No tools are required for this find, but BYOP! You will not need to climb on top (in fact, I think that folks specifically frown on climbing, as it is somewhat disrespectful).
Remember - you only need to find one MHK to claim this cache, and PLEASE put any that you find back exactly as you have found them!
