SK: Prvy lesnicky profesor Lesnickeho ustavu v Banskej Stiavnici - prvej vysokej lesnickej skoly na svete. Pochadzal z Nemecka a do profesorskej funkcie ho menoval cisar Frantisek I. v roku 1808. Prvu slavnostnu lesnicku prednasku mal v den cisarovych narodenin 12.02.1809 v Zemberovskom dome v Banskej Stiavnici, kde posobil az do svojej smrti. Dr. H. D. Wilckens ako priekopnik lesnickej vedy a skolstva bol nadany prirodovedec chapajuci les ako vzacne spolocenstvo, ktore nesmie byt vyuzivane len na tazbu dreva. Na jeho pocest postavili v roku 1912 pamatnik, pri ktorom je tato cache. Sucastou pamatnika bola aj aleja stromov, z ktorej sa dodnes ako chranene stromy zachovali dva javory miecne a dva smrekovce opadave.
EN: First professor of forestry at the Forestry Institute in Banska Stiavnica, the oldest forestry university in the world. He was born in Germany and appointed a professor by the Emperor Franz I in 1808. His inaugural lecture was given on the day of Emperor's birthday on February 12, 1809 in the Zemberov house in Banska Stiavnica where he lived till his death. Dr. H. D. Wilckens as a pioneer of forestry and education, was a gifted a naturalist who considered forrest a unique community offering much more then timber production. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, a munument was erected and tree alley planted of which 2 specimens of Norway maple and European larch (protected trees) have survived to date.
