A quick park and grab beside Queens Park Invercargill. In honour of the BIG bird in the enclosure beside GZ. These type of birds will bite so be warned. Start your experience at the trail head way point.
Do not worry about the alpacas they will not come to you, but the bird will come real close and peck and bite. Parking available in car park just up in through the entrance way to park. After dark the gate is closed so park on the East side of Queens Drive. This is a high muggles area so take care. The cache is a not so small bison has log booklet but bring a pen to sign log. Accuracy of 4m. For an optional extra experience in daytime hours: While you are at the trail head have some fun and feed the bird. Only use the grass pulled from the grass around the fence and trees. There are signs that say not to feed the animals but I am sure the grass on your side of the fence is a good as the grass the bird eats. Feeding the birds can be scary for young children and the not so young. The method I use is to have the grass in an open hand under the fence or through the gate and let the bird eat from my hand. The beak will usually just peck the grass out of hand but if you leave hand there the beak will encompass your hand usually gently but with enough force for you to say "It Bit Me" Sometimes the bird is in the next enclosure. Please note that feeding the bird is optional. Just finding the cache is all that is needed to log the find.
