The Suburb of Duffy
Duffy is a suburb in the Canberra district of Weston Creek.
Established 1971
Population Approximately 3000.
Streets in the suburb of Duffy are named after Australian dams and reservoirs.

Duffy was named in honour of Sir Charles Gavan Duffy the 8th Premier of Victoria.
Sir Charles Gavan Duffy, KCMG (12 April 1816 – 9 February 1903) Irish nationalist and Australian colonial politician, was the 8th Premier of Victoria (Australia) and one of the most colourful figures in Victorian political history. Sir Duffy was a strong supporter of Irishman’s rights. These included Irish independence and land rights in his home land and Australia.

The Canberra bushfires of 2003 destroyed about 200 Duffy homes and the local petrol station. 4 people lost their lives in the area due to the fire. The 18th of Jan 2009 was the 6th anniversary of the fire.
