I am calling this cache "Not In Our Back Yard" based on an article that I read about the WWII POW camp at Cobb's Hill. The camp held both Italian and German POWs. The Italian POWs came from the North African Campaign and were received well from the local population (Rochester has always had a large Italian American population) who visited the prisoners. Due to the war, there was a shortage of male labor to work on the local farms...the idea was to use enemy POWs to work the fields in the Rochester area. For the most part, the Italian prisoners were not a problem for the local population (they were not interested in escape), for the German prisoners, it was a different situation. Coming from North Africa, Normandy and the Ardennes Campaign, the German prisoners required extra security measures (hence the name, Not in my backyard) due to their propensity to escape. Additionally, the Cobb's Hill/Park Ave area was one of the weathier neighborhoods in the Rochester area and the locals were not too keen on having prisoners in their own backyard. Interestingly enough, the German prisoners were known for holding impromtu singing concerts which some of the locals enjoyed and others thought a nuiscance.
This is a heavy muggle area so stealth is required. I decided not to list the container size since an experienced cacher should know what to look for. Congrats to Billsfan for FTF!
