Easy Park and Grab. You can park on the drive in front of the gate. Be careful pulling in and out - speed limit here is 55 mph. Watch out for sandspurs, ants, spiders, webs and cactus. Suitable for small SWAG and trackables.
The A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway runs between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway on a narrow barrier island with breathtaking views down the east coast of FL. The highway hugs the eastern coast of FL for 72 miles, highlighting the beauty, culture and value of Florida. This environment supports a variety of wildlife including 50 endangered species. It runs through several historic communities, including St. Augustine. It is the main road for most oceanfront towns. The road was named SR 1 in 1945 but was soon changed due to confusion with US1 which runs parallel to it in many places. The new name was given on 11/25/46 - A1A, short for Atlantic 1 Alternate.
