Geocache Description:

PLEASE DON'T STOP ON THE INTERSTATE TO GET THIS CACHE. USE THE FRONTAGE ROAD

This cache has quite a story behind it.

Last summer (August 2011) GOATTER, pfeifferhorn, hyperheidi and I went for a backpack in the Unitas. On the way home we stopped to look for the cache Davis Wasatch Run Away (GCQJYE) even though it looked like it was missing. It was the only cache that qualified for Wyuta for the Tribute to Utah - 75 Challenge (GC2JF46). Both hyperheidi and I were interested in completing that challenge. When we told GOATTER about it, he thought it was cool and would start working on it. Needless to say we had a great need for a cache in this spot.

Well the original could not be found. GOATTER had a spare container with him (which he packed on the entire 18 mile hike I might add). We didn't have any swag or a logbook for it, though. We quickly ran back up the road to where we saw a Dollar store. We agreed we'd each spend $3 to get swag to contribute, It quickly became a well stocked ammo can. I contributed a spare notebook for the log. Someone dropped a travel bug in just to make it a well rounded cache. We went .1 mile up the road from where the original cache was just in case we missed it or that owner wanted to replace it. Cache placed. GOATTER and pfeifferhorn took the coordinates while hyperheidi and I were busy getting a picture with the nearby Lincoln Highway sign for a Waymark,

Now the question became who was going to own it. None of the three of us who had some interest in the Tribute challenge wanted to own it because we wanted to log it. Through a little peer pressure, we got pfeifferhorn to agree to own it. We spent the rest of the car ride back to SLC discussing what it should be called. hyperheidi had A LOT of other challenges she was working that required certain words in cache names. The name you see above was the final decision. In addition to being used for the Tribute to Utah Challenges (GC2JF46, GC2JF3Y,GC2JF2K) the "Quick" allows it to be used for the Challenge of the Q's (GC2HF4H). I forget what challenge in Yuba City, CA hyperheidi had signed to want the "Stop!".

The cache listing didn't appear right away. Since we had kind of coerced pfeifferhorn into it, I felt bad bugging him about it. The cache slowly faded into memory until the lv2wj, the owner of the Tribute to Utah challenges contacted me, LAST WEEK, one year later. Being a good challenge owner, they were working on qualifying for their own challenge. She asked what happened to that Wyuta cache I had mentioned in my log for the Tribute Challenge. "I don't know. Let me check." A flurry of emails later we discovered everyone had slightly different memories of who had what and was going to do what. Classic scenario to get nothing done. Right?!

Fortunately just as this came up I had a business trip planned to WY which would take me right through Wyuta. Why not just publish it? Why stop? No one had the coordinates any more. The cache had to be found and new coordinates taken. Armed with the memories of the rest of the group, I drove on to the frontage road. Right where I wanted to stop was a guy in a pick-up truck on the phone. Nuts! I drove by just to kill time and wait for this muggles departure. As I drove back I saw that he was still there and I started looking for a place to pull over and wait him out. The place I picked suddenly looked very familiar. I started poking around and sure enough there was our well stocked container with that poor lonely little TB that we had all forgotten about. I think the original cache was where the muggle stopped. Glad he stopped. He saved me an unnecessary search. Made sure everything was good. Swapped TBs. Got some new coords and headed on.

Since I had all 76 items for the Tribute Challenge, I qualify even without this cache, so lv2wj was good with letting my find stand AND me owning this cache. Hence, you get my long log like cache page. Hey it's a good story.

At long last here is the cache that took a year to publish! Happy hunting! Hope it helps more people to complete challenges.
