Geocache Description:

This time we want to show you a short goat path (=keçi yolu) above Turunç. It provides a beautiful view of the bay of Turunç from an mostly unknown perspective.
It can be done as a separate walk or after searching for keçi yolu 2 (GC32WDY).



For the stand-alone version you start at the Loryma Resort Hotel above Turunç. This Hotel can be reached half-hourly via the dolmus from Turunç village or Içmeler (waypoint 01: dolmus station) or it can be reached by car (waypoint 02: parking area). Of course it is also possible to use the road from Turunç village by foot.

Now follow the small street (92 Sokak) until you pass the Internationale Akadamie Marmaris (IAM), where the trail starts (waypoint 03). Its course is clearly visible, please always look for the red and green waymarking. After a while and passing two landslips you will come to waypoint 04, where the path to keçi yolu 2 turns left, uphill. But you have to walk straight ahead, now without any waymarks and a bit cross-country. Pass the camp of a goatherd on your left side (sorry for the waste, but this is typical Turkish too) and an overthrown tree on your right. Then hold yourself near to the rock wall on your left to reach the viewpoint over Turunç. To enjoy this view you should have a good head for heights, the cache itself is placed a short distance behind for safety reasons.

Please carry enough water on hot weather and don’t forget sun protection. We recommend to wear sturdy shoes and long-sleeved clothing. The path is approx. 1,5km long (one way from waypoint 03 to the hiding place). Up to the branch (waypoint 04) it is without a significant altitude difference, but then it becomes slippery and steeply, so be careful there! A hiking stick might be helpful. It is completely shown in Open Street Maps.
There is a small shop at the Loryma Resort Hotel (closed during lunch time), where you can refresh yourself after the walk with ice cream and cold drinks.
During our absence in Turkey the maintenance of this cache is done by a friend living in Turunç.
