Geocache Description:

Mine overlook deserving a visit if in Virginia.

For as familiar as Virginia may be to some who frequent the Iron Range, this location is one to easily miss. Just one block off a major route through Virginia, Virginia's rich mining history is celebrated at Oldtown-Finntown Overlook and Park with a offering truly breathtaking views of the area's deepest open pit mines. The mining canyon expands nearly three miles long, a half-mile wide and 450 feet deep. It began as underground shafts and produced more than 300 million gross tons of iron ore within the Virginia district. The park provides recreation in the form of biking trails and access to more than 2,000 miles of scenic groomed snowmobile trails. The overlook is open year-round. I encourage you to post pictures of the view but not the cache itself nor the location where the cache is hidden.

You do not need to pay for parking, this is a self-pay location for wheeled vehicles using the Mesabi Trail. Please do not stray outside the fencing, destroy anything, or add to the graffitti at this location.  The cache is in plain sight and not covered by anything other than a roof.  You do not need to lift, pull, yank, dismantle, jackhammer, liquefy, or excavate anything to locate this cache. Keep all hands, feet, noses, and pets inside the fence at all times, your feet should not touch anything other than the walking surface of the overlook. Bring your own writing implement, you must sign physical log. Please note the overall difficulty rating, there are other easier caches in town if you are not up to this cache that this CO encourages you to locate for the less determined cacher.

Your GPS will be obstructed by the metal roof over this cache; once you have found the large roof cover for this cache you no longer need your GPS as the cache is under the roof. It was difficult to get accurate GPS readings here due to the roof. If you happens to get very good accuracy with your more sensitive GPS please let me know in the log, but the coordinates will suffice to get you to the location and to the cache if you can read the thing other than white between the lines.

If you don't see it right away, that is expected as it would then be muggled. Orient your perspective in unique ways. Spoilers will be expunged with prejudice.
