The Western Cape
The Western Cape is a province of South Africa, located in the south west part of the country. It is the southernmost region of the African continent and stretches from the Cape of Good Hope roughly 400 kilometres northwards along the Atlantic coast and about 500 kilometres eastwards past Cape Agulhas (the southern tip of Africa) along the Indian Ocean coast. It also includes the Prince Edward Islands (South African territories) in the sub-Antarctic Indian Ocean for legal purposes.
The province covers 129,462 square kilometres of land; the 4th largest in the country, roughly the size of England and about 10.6% of the country’s total. It is an expectionally diverse province both topographically and climatologically due to the mountains that run through it and the combined influences of the cold Atlantic Ocean and the warm Indian Ocean. It is also an astonishingly biodiverse region and contains 3 of only 34 recognised biodiversity hotspots in the world: Cape Floral Region, Succulent Karoo Biome and Maputaland-Pondoland-Albany.
The capital of the Western Cape is the City of Cape Town. For management purposes it is subdivided into 1 metropolitan municipality and 5 district municipalities which are further subdivided into 24 local municipalities. A list of municipalities can be found here. At the time of publishing the 6 Category A (metropolitan) and Category C (district) municipalities in the Western Cape were:
- City of Cape Town
- Cape Winelands District Municipality
- Central Karoo District Municipality
- Eden District Municipality
- Overberg District Municipality
- West Coast District Municipality

The Challenge
In order to log this cache you must have found and logged at least 1 cache in each of the 6 metropolitan and district municipalities in the Western Cape. When logging, please provide evidence of your qualification. The easiest way to do this is to make use of the challenge checker from Project-GC (see below) to verify if you qualify or not... Alternatively:
- link to a bookmark list containing at least 1 cache (your favourite perhaps) that you have found in each municipality
- OR, provide a link to your statistics page showing a map of your found caches within the Western Cape
- OR, type up a list of the caches in your log.

Please note: All logs will be verified and if I see that you have not logged a Found It against all the caches in your list then your log will be deleted. Also, in your log, feel free to tell us about your journey through this amazing province and the caches that took you to places you might otherwise never have been to.
The final cache is a 1 litre lock'n'lock style container at a spot where you can sit back, enjoy the view and reflect on your caching journey through this diverse and amazing province. The difficulty rating on this cache has been elevated to a level suitable to the amount of travel and number of days it will take you complete this challenge. The terrain rating is true for the final - it's a bit of a walk but really not that bad and should be accomplishable by anyone.
