Con una derivazione del Lago di Varna Spiluckbaches dal 1979 viene fornito con acqua fresca.
Intorno al lago ci sono pannelli informativi, di cui si può imparare molto sul lago come le piante e la fauna selvatica. Quindi vale la pena una passeggiata intorno al lago e forse un po 'di raffreddamento nella parte settentrionale.

Der Vahrner See gehört zu der Gemeinde Vahrn und liegt auf einer Höhe von 712 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel. Er liegt etwas nördlich von Vahrn , eingezwängt zwischen den steilen Berghängen und der Brennerautobahn. Gut geschützt von der dichten umliegenden Vegetation ist er trotz seiner Lage ein besonders ruhiges Refugium für Erholungssuchende. Seine Oberfläche beträgt ca 1,5 ha und ein Volumen von geschätzten 30000m3. Mit einer maximalen Wassertiefe von 3,5 Metern ist er ein sehr seichter See. Der Vahrner See gilt als Mesotroph, das heisst er weisst einen Moorcharakter auf und hat daher eine relativ niedrige Sauerstoffsättigung auch in den oberflächigen Wasserschichten.
Der See ist in zwei Hälften geteilt.
Der nördliche Teil gilt als Badesee und ist im Sommer auch sehr gern genutzt, da er recht angenehme Temperaturen aufweist aufgrund seiner geringen Tiefe.
Der südliche Teil des Sees ist mit Schilf bewachsen. Dieses Schilfröhricht und die angrenzende Fläche wurden im Jahre 1977 als Biotop ausgewiesen und stehen somit unter Naturschutz.
Durch eine Ableitung des Spiluckbaches wird der Vahrner See seit 1979 mit Frischwasser versorgt.
Rund um den See befinden sich Informationstafeln, von denen man einiges über den See so wie die Pflanzen und Tierwelt lernen kann. Also es lohnt sich ein Spaziergang um den See und vielleicht auch eine kleine Abkühlung im nördlichen Teil.
