Geocache Description:

Everything below the XXXX's is historical - no longer needed to find the cache. The above coords lead to a spot where there used to be an historical marker, across the river from the Hanford nuclear site. The marker is gone now (we don't know why) -INSTEAD- cachers will find a small container in a common hiding spot. Inside the container the coordinates for the final location are listed.

The Hanford Nuclear Reservation played a crucial role in bringing World War II to an end and in pioneering nuclear power plant technology. Basically, this is the place where nuclear theory became nuclear reality. What took place here in the mid-1940's changed the world forever.

 

The informative historical marker placed at the above coordinates contains answers to the 9 word puzzle questions listed below. Solving the puzzle for the final coords will simultaneously assist cachers in learning about this piece of Washington state history that many know little about. The B Reactor is now designated by the National Park Service as a National Historic Landmark. Enjoy a great view of the Columbia from both the reader board site and the final. Final has good parking off the highway barely N of ground zero (GZ). Safety first -- keep kids away from the road! Traffic is usually light. Didn't see any but the standard seasonal rattlesnake warning is in effect.
