Geocache Description:

Canterbury Tales 2: Cycling has been retired. Energy Australia are doing some serious work out at GZ. Time for the next installment.

mm
Saint Mary Mackillup park in Canterbury was named in honour of Australias first Saint.
In the Early 1900's Mary MacKillop and the St Joseph nuns ran St Anthony's Catholic Church in Howard Street Canterbury. They had a house in Fore Street (2 streets from the park) which the nuns used as their Convent.
Mary MacKillup was made a Saint by Pope Benedict XVI on 17/10/2010.

Nobody knows why; but her park is full of plaques honoring local sporting heroes.

Perhaps she was a big sports fan! :)
