St. Georgen ist eine Fraktion der Stadt Bruneck im Südtiroler Pustertal mit etwas über 2000 Einwohnern und liegt auf 832 m Höhe. Die ehemals selbstständige Gemeinde St. Georgen an der Ahr (auch St. Georgen bei Bruneck genannt) wurde 1928 gegen den Willen der Einwohner nach Bruneck eingemeindet. Das Dorf befindet sich rund einen Kilometer nördlich von Bruneck am Eingang zum Tauferer Ahrntal und ist von den Ahrauen umgeben. St. Georgen ist eine der ältesten Siedlungen des Pustertals. Oberhalb des Dorfes sind zwei Sandhügel, die große und die kleine Pipe, auf welchen Spuren vorgeschichtlicher Wallburgen wahrzunehmen sind. St. Georgen war eine schon lange bestandene Urpfarrei, die auf Wunsch von Kaiser Heinrich II. und seiner Gemahlin Kunigunde 1014 nach Gais verlegt wurde, von der sie dann eine Filialkirche wurde. Erst 1932 wurde sie wieder zu einer Pfarrkirche erhoben.

St. Georgen (ital.: San Giorgio) is a fraction of Bruneck in the South Tyrolean Dolomites with a little over 2000 inhabitants and is located on 832 m height.

The formerly independent municipality St. Georgen in the Ahr was incorporated to Bruneck (ital.: Brunico) in 1928, against the will of the people.The village is located about one kilometer north of Bruneck at the entrance to Valle Aurina and is surrounded by the Ahrauen (meadow). St. Georgen is one of the oldest settlements in the Pusteria. Above the village are two sand hills, the Große und kleine Pige (large and the small Pipe) are exercising on which traces of prehistoric constructions can be found.

San Giorgio è una frazione di Brunico, in provincia di Bolzano, situata lungo il torrente Aurino a circa 1,5 km dal centro del capoluogo locale, dal quale la dividono dei terreni denominati Rienzfelder ("Campi della Rienza").
Benché oggi sia un abitato di proporzioni ridotte e privo di autonomia amministrativa, nel passato ha avuto una lunga storia autonoma (è preesistente alla nascita del centro di Brunico) e fino al 1927 ha costituito comune a sé. Oltre alla chiesa che ha dato il nome al paese, le cui origini si perdono nel tempo, numerosi edifici ancora oggi esistenti testimoniano questo fiorente passato. Al giorno d'oggi, pur essendo molto mutate le condizioni di vita rispetto a quelle tradizionali, il paese conserva vivi molti usi antichi, e si caratterizza per una vivace attività associazionistica, in particolare con un efficiente servizio di pompieri volontari e con una quotata banda musicale.
