This is the second of the Øyværing series, presenting places one would not imagine people have eked out a living.
"Sauraholmen"
På denne holmen var det bosetning fra 1852 fram til 1919. I 20 år var dette en husmannsplass under gården Saura, men i 1872 endret statusen seg til bygselsgård. Her dyrket de bygg helt fram til 1900-tallet. I dag er det mest sauer du møter her ute.

Det er best å bruke lettbåt eller kayak for å nå denne cachen, og dersom du ikke er kjent på denne delen av kysten, er det verdt å merke seg at forskjellen på flo og fjære er drøye 2,5 meter.
This island was inhabited from 1852 until 1919. For twenty years it was a small croft under the farm at Saura across the sound to the north, and in 1872 the croft became a leasehold. Barley was grown here until the early 20th century, but these days sheep grazing is the only activity on the island.

A dingy or kayak is required to reach the location of this cache, and if you are unfamiliar with this part of the coast line, it is worth noting that the tidal difference is 2.5 metres.
